Seminar with Enomoto Sensei, July 2, 2007

Some members of the Toronto Kendo Club attended the seminar hosted by Etobicoke Kendo Club. The seminar was taught by Enomoto Sensei from Tokyo,Japan. He is an instructor for the Tokyo police. The seminar started at 9 a.m. in the morning with an hour and half break for lunch. It was a very good seminar attended by many people from different clubs. The morning part of the seminar was mainly suburi practice....the Sensei told us that the school kids and cops he teaches at his dojo do 600 suburis before they start practice! After lunch we practiced many different wazas with bougu on. The seminar ended with godokeiko and a mad dash to line up for Enomoto Sensei. Then we all went to Mandarin for a buffet dinner with the Sensei. Koichi and Tim ate way too much and they looked a little sick at the end. The most beautiful moment of the evening was when the Sensei sat with us and answered our questions about Kendo. He did it in a most sincere, heartfelt and supportive way. If you want to know what he said?....well you should've been there.
