After the seminar we all headed to Sensei's restaurant. Some of us took the taxi but we had to walk part way. The restaurant is on Grand Allee...party street....there is even a giant outdoor disco ball.
Andrew dropped by to see us at lunch time...We haven't seen him for awhile. After lunch we had more seminar and then the gradings. During the grading Nobi and Jeanne drove the car back to the parking garage....it was St. Jean Baptiste Day and we were worried that the roads would be blocked off for the festivities and that we would not be able to get the car back into vieux Quebec later on. We got back to the gym in time to see the end of the gradings. We then had one hour of godokeiko....it was very strange...people started to take off their bougus and pack up before sei retsu, they even started bowing to the Senseis. Our club was the only one to remain in bougu...finally, some called sei retsu.
The didn't have any chopsticks so everybody had to use their hands or find ingenious ways to make utensils..lol.
The next day we had a very big breakfast at this very nice restaurant near the hostel. Afterwards we headed for the seminar by following Rene Leveque Rd. all the way until we saw a sign for Laval. At the seminar we were seperated into groups according to our rank. One Sensei started his group with a kiai session. We had a lunch break but after the big breakfast I wasn't hungry.
Koichi, Harley, Tim, Nobi and Jeanne went to Quebec City for a Kendo Seminar at Laval University. The ride was long but we managed it without too many washroom breaks. We had a meal at A&W where Harley really enjoyed his root beer. Harley also met an ex student of a school where he once taught. We stayed at a hostel in Old Quebec City - Auberge Internationalle. It's a very beautiful part of town. The hostel was only $26/person/night. We were in a mixed hostel room with six beds. We arrived at around 3 a.m. There was parking nearby for around $12/day which was very convenient.
